Description: Introductory music begins to play. As title page appears displaying BrailleNote Tutorial, Word Processing, Online Video Training Modules, Alberta Education. Narrator: This section deals with word processing. To navigate to the word processor as mentioned before in the basic navigation you could just press spacebar, BrailleNote: word processor. Narrator: An alternate way to navigate to any application if you know the first letter of what it’s called. In this case W it would take you directly to the word processor. This can be used in other parts of the BrailleNote. For example if you wanted to go to the planner you would hit P. Now that we’re in the word processor menu there are five different choices. Again you can navigate back and forth using spacebar or some of the other tips that have been suggested. Hitting O goes to open. BrailleNote: folder name press enter for general Narrator: By default all of your files can be stored in a folder called general. When you hit C create automatically asks you where you want to save. BrailleNote: Like in the open one default to general. In fact whatever folder you were last in is usually the one that will default to. Had I created a folder called social studies it would have defaulted to that instead of general. At the moment we’ll stick with general. BrailleNote: Document to create Narrator At this point you can name it whatever you desire. In this case we’re going to name this LRC and hit enter. BrailleNote: Top of document Now that we’re in a blank document at the top we can continue typing. I’ll just write a quick sentence. To navigate to the top of a document you can press dots 1, 2, 3 with space. If it’s a long document and you want to navigate to the end to carry on and add more to what you’ve written before the opposite 4, 5, 6 and space takes you to the end. The other way you can move the cursor around to navigate or to adjust what you’ve written find your spot on the Braille display and press the router key just above the letter. In this case you’ll note that dots 7 and 8 showing my cursor is placed on the letter O. I begin typing my letter O will be pushed ahead and whatever I’m typing gets placed before it. You can also have the word processor read back to you what you’ve written. You can read back an entire sentence by hitting dots 1, 4, space or you can have it read the previous sentence dot 1 plus space. BrailleNote: this is a test of the BrailleNote Narrator: Next sentence is dot 4 plus space. You notice that whatever you do with the one hand, the opposite hand does the opposite reaction. Aside from reading the entire sentence in word processing you can also have it read back the current word hitting dot 2 and 5 with space will read the current word. Just like in reading the sentence if you hit just dot 2 with space by itself it will read the previous word, dot 5 space the next word. You could hit dot 3 and 6 with space to read the current character. If you wanted to read the previous character just like before dot 3 with space takes you previous, dot 6 with space takes you to the next. Within word processing this is the basic navigation forward and backward as well as replaying what you have previously typed. Once you are finished typing your document to save it simply exit the program. You can do this by pressing E with space or by going back to the main menu dots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and space. An alternate way to save you would be pressing S with space. This gets you advanced saving features which will be covered in the advanced word processing section. Description: End of video.
