Description: Introductory music begins to play. As title page appears displaying BrailleNote Tutorial, Media Player, Online Video Training Modules, Alberta Education. Narrator: This section is on the media player. From the main menu user navigation buttons or you can press the letter M, to open up the media player. Once in the media menu you have four choices. You can turn on the media player which will play back prerecorded or other audio files or you can audibly record a memo. You can either plug in an external microphone or use the built-in microphone located on the top left hand corner. This is the menu that you would use to record. There is also a very quick and convenient record button on the side. If you wanted to use advance recording features you would use those in the media player. Playback memos- This feature plays back anything that has already been prerecorded. If you wanted to listen to music while you’re working on your BrailleNote you would go to the media player, enter that and just like we discussed before you have to navigate to where your media files are. You could use an external USB drive and plug it in the back or use an SD card. In both cases you would select the drive as being either the SD or the hard disk meaning the USB drive and then from there find the folder and open the appropriate media file. On one more note in the media player you can also play an fm radio. The fm radio is the last of the options in the media player menu. When you press enter you will hear static unless you plug in the antenna. Conveniently the antenna is also the headphones. This way you ensure privacy while you are listening to the radio as well as it working as the antenna. By pressing dot 4 with spacebar it will look for the next available channel. If it does not find one as in this case we’ll exit. The E with the spacebar to exit will come up with a prompt that will ask you do you wish to leave the radio on. In this case it’s giving you the option of working on the BrailleNote while having the radio still playing. For example you could be working on the internet or in word processing and still listen to your favorite radio station. This is a very brief example of how to use the media player to play either an MP3 music file or in this case an audio book. I have inserted an SD card in the back. The unit has said SD card ready. From the media player I’m going to select player. It’s going to ask where to play it. I’m going to hit the backspace button will activate the drive list. Using the spacebar I’ll navigate until I find the list or I can press S for SD card. In this case there are no folders, I’ll press enter. To fast forward by a small increment dot 4 with space moves forward. There are other advanced navigation features that you can access such as pausing, pressing the backspace and enter at the same time and if there are more that you wish to know how to fast forward to a larger section at this point I recommend pressing the H with the spacebar in order to pull up the help menu in the media player.
