Description: Introductory music begins to play. Title page appears, PAC Mate Basics, Settings, Online Video Training Modules, Alberta Education. Narrator: Hi, my name is Ryan. This module is called settings. There are quite a few different settings that you can make changes to on the PAC Mate. We’re only going to go over a few of them right now. One of the first settings you probably want to adjust is the rate of the speech. In order to do that you can press the letter S on the Braille keys with the space bar. Jaws says settings. Now to increase the volume I can press the up arrow and the PAC Mate gets louder. I can press the down arrow and the PAC Mate gets softer. Again up arrow is louder. If I hit the left arrow it will slow the speech down and if I hit the right arrow I can speed it up. That’s usually the rate I have it at. So again to change the volume up arrow increases, down arrow decreases. To slow the speech down I can press the left arrow. To speed it up I can press the right arrow. Another setting you can change on the PAC Mate is keyboard echo. Keyboard echo allows you to change between characters, words, both characters and words or none which is basically echoing back keystrokes as you type. To open that setting I’m going to type an S with the space bar and then type K without the spacebar and it toggles between both characters and words, none, characters, or words. When you find the one you want you can just type a Z with the space bar and it saves that setting. Another setting you’ll want to change is the date and time when you first get your PAC Mate. In order to do that on the today screen the first item at the top is the date and time. We’re going to press enter to open the date and time settings. The first thing that comes up is a box that says it is set to home. You can set two different time zones on the PAC Mate home and away. I’m going to press tab which is Dots 4, 5 and the space bar to move to the next dialogue. Tab again. So Jaws tells you to change the value use the up and down arrow keys and it tells you the current value which is 11. I can use my up and down arrow keys now to scroll through the different time slots. Up arrow is 12, up again is 1, up again is 2. I can press down arrow and it would decrease the time. To move to the minutes box I press the right arrow. Again I can press the up arrow to increase the minute or down arrow to decrease. To move to the second field I press the right arrow again. I can press the up arrow or down arrow to increase or decrease the time as well. If I press the right arrow again it takes us to AM and PM. That’s all there is for the time settings. If I press tab it will move us into the date settings. So it places us in the day field which is 29 today’s date. Again I can use the up arrow or down arrow to change the current day. If I press the right arrow it moves us to the year field and again up arrow increases, down arrow decreases. If I press the right arrow again it moves us to the month field and again up arrow increases the month or changes month to month, down arrow decreases. When you’re done making your settings changes press the F1 key and it asks you if you want to save your settings and if so to activate press Dot 8. So I’m going to do that. There are many more settings you can adjust on the PAC Mate. For more information on adjusting those settings please refer to the manual that comes with your PAC Mate or give Aroga a call at 1-877-274-0044. This concludes the settings module for the PAC Mate.
